WHAT CAN I CONSTELLATE?
The Answer: Anything
Any problem can be addressed in a constellation, although the more specific a request, the more specific results you will get. Common topics are related to relationships of all types (spouses, parents, children, colleagues etc.), help with decision making, health-related matters, or business and professional dilemmas, to name a few. See the specific constellation categories below with an explanation on what each one is about.
Take a step toward your own healing
A constellation will reveal what you can't see with the natural eye, the hidden dynamics and causes of a problem. By revealing the origin, it is then brought to consciousness and a healing exchange takes place bringing more natural order to the system you pertain to, your family system or any other system. Representatives are chosen to represent different elements of the story and the parts interact naturally showing the story between the parts.
Family constellations address family matters of all kinds, including between spouses, siblings, parents or any other relationship. Professional and organizational constellations deal with such issues and allow one to test and try new potential career moves or projects considering other factors like happiness, money and success at the same time. The list of possibilities for professional topics runs long, and it's innovative for complex problem solving. Health constellations are related to any health issue, symptom or illness. Many times an illness or symptoms of one are a manifestation of a different problem in the family field, something that wasn't recognized or settled from the past. Finally, "inner parts constellations" use different parts of our own character, aspects of the self, to see the connection between the parts.
A constellation gives you the opportunity to step toward your own healing, and like all opportunities, it usually starts from a problem. See a more detailed description of each category here.
We are all part of a family system, and we are all products of what we and others lived in the system. Hellinger's work and the basis of constellations is that the root cause of most challenges we face today comes from the family system. A traditional family constellation is for working on family matters, such as relationships with our parents, spouses, children, or anyone else within the family, even a long distance relative or ancestor. Simply put, any challenge or difficulty related to your immediate, extended or adopted family would be considered a family constellation. The goal is to re-establish the natural order, to find a better balance between giving and receiving, to include anyone who has been excluded and to ultimately create an "image" that is more appropriate to you and your life today. Your personal "field" will reveal the origin and cause of the difficulty, and it is your field that will lead you to healing and resolution.
PROFESSIONAL & ORGANIZATIONAL CONSTELLATIONS
Organizational and professional constellations are less personal as they work any issue related to your professional life, or the life of an organization for managers and owners. Professional constellations are a tremendous way to understand blocks in your professional life, to test new ideas, projects or products, to see your relationship with money and success, or to resolve conflicts in the workplace. Your place of employment simply represents another system you belong to. Sometimes the origin of a problem comes down to a problem in the family system, or sometimes it's because of confusion between the family system and the company system, in the case of a family business where there are two systems at play. Since constellations is a "systemic" therapy, one can use the same approach for professional needs... because let's face it, our professional lives are an important part of life! Professional and organizational constellations is a brilliant and powerful way to analyze and resolve your professional and business needs. The power and potential of this tool is underestimated for business matters. For case studies and examples on how constellations has served clients for professional matters of all kinds, go here.
Looking after ourselves is complex, and any therapy can provide insights beyond scientific facts or doctor’s orders. Consciousness is a powerful thing on any level and especially related to our health. A health constellation is one that brings new information to consciousness related to your health and health concerns. Health constellations reveal that many times a cause, or origin, of the illness, symptom or emotion comes from an excluded family member, unconscious loyalties or bonds in the family system, or taking on problems that are not ours to solve, such as the case of a child trying to solve his/her parent’s marriage conflicts. Prevention is another case and is a primary reason why constellations can be so powerful. I was struck during a workshop with Stephan Hausner, an internationally renowned constellator on the topic of health and illness, when he said that his recommended source of prevention was “family constellations.” There is no promise that a constellation will heal an illness or symptoms of one, although it can and does happen. On a systemic level, this work is incredibly positive for future generations, for consciousness and for prevention. The real point of a health constellation is to see the illness in the larger, transgenerational context of the family.
INNER PARTS CONSTELLATIONS
An "inner parts constellation" is a tool for your own healing and discovery by working with different aspects of yourself and seeing the connection and relationship between the parts. We know that when our heads are in control, it can take away from our joy and peace, or when work and family responsibilities don’t allow us to pursue our passions, it is work or family life that suffer as a result. We all need balance, and a self constellation helps us find just that and more. Examples are when the challenge is within yourself, such as the conflict between your head and your heart, your anxiety versus quest for perfection, or insights into finding your true passion.
